چکیده
Mentioned for the first time in an article 1971, occurrence of term “ Macrophomina phaseolina ” has experienced a steep increase scientific literature over past 15 years. Concurrently, incidences M. -caused crop diseases have been getting more frequent. The high levels diversity and plasticity observed phasolina genomes along with rich equipment plant cell wall degrading enzymes, secondary metabolites putative virulence effectors as well unusual longevity microsclerotia, their asexual reproduction structures, make this pathogen very difficult to control protection against it challenging. During years several studies emerged reporting on host defense measures , mechanisms pathogenicity employed by fungal pathogen. While most these performed systems, such soybean or sesame, recently interactions model Arabidopsis thaliana described. Collectively, results from various are hinting at complex infection cycle which exhibits early biotrophic phase switches necrotrophy later points during process. Consequently, responses hosts seem coordinated multiple defense-associated phytohormones. However, point no robust strong mechanism

Antibiosis of Trichoderma spp strains native to northeastern Mexico against the pathogenic fungus Macrophomina phaseolina
Sampling of agricultural soils from the Mexican northeastern region was performed to detect Trichoderma spp., genetically characterize it, and assess its potential use as a biologic control agent against Macrophomina phaseolina. M. phaseolina is a phytopathogen that attacks over 500 species of cultivated plants and causes heavy losses in the regional sorghum crop. Sampling was performed immedia...
متن کاملNitric Oxide Production by Necrotrophic Pathogen Macrophomina phaseolina and the Host Plant in Charcoal Rot Disease of Jute: Complexity of the Interplay between Necrotroph–Host Plant Interactions
M. phaseolina, a global devastating necrotrophic fungal pathogen causes charcoal rot disease in more than 500 host plants. With the aim of understanding the plant-necrotrophic pathogen interaction associated with charcoal rot disease of jute, biochemical approach was attempted to study cellular nitric oxide production under diseased condition. This is the first report on M. phaseolina infection...
متن کاملUsing chimeric hypoviruses to fine-tune the interaction between a pathogenic fungus and its plant host.
Infectious cDNA clones of mild (CHV1-Euro7) and severe (CHV1-EP713) hypovirus strains responsible for virulence attenuation (hypovirulence) of the chestnut blight fungus Cryphonectria parasitica were used to construct viable chimeric viruses. Differences in virus-mediated alterations of fungal colony morphology, growth rate, and canker morphology were mapped to a region of open reading frame B ...
متن کاملThe role of plant hormone auxin on the interaction between Macrophomina phaseolina and Medicago truncatula
Macrophomina phaseolina is a soil-borne fungal pathogen that causes the charcoal rot disease in many plant species. This disease causes many problems to the soy industry as no consistently effective control has been found. Using Medicago as a model, we study the molecular interactions between the pathogen and its plant host. A microarray chip was used to measure the changes in the expression le...
متن کاملMolecular Identification and Genetic Characterization of Macrophomina phaseolina Strains Causing Pathogenicity on Sunflower and Chickpea
Macrophomina phaseolina is the most devastating pathogen which causes charcoal rot and root rot diseases in various economically important crops. Three strains M. phaseolina 1156, M. phaseolina 1160, and M. phaseolina PCMC/F1 were tested for their virulence on sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) and chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). The strains showed high virulence on both hosts with a disease score...
